Caribbean Coast

The Colombian Caribbean region includes all the plains north of the Andes, and a few mountains above. The main of these mountains is the Santa Marta Snowed Sierra: the higher heights in Colombia and the higher coastal mountains in the World. Most of the Caribbean region is composed by plains and small hills, though.

Besides the Sierra, the main sub-regions are the Guajira Peninsula in the East, the Valley of the Cesar River separating the Santa Marta Snowed Sierra with the Andes, the plains of the lower Magdalena River and the lower Cauca River right west, the Sinu basin and related plains, the María Mountains between the Sinu and the Magdalena rivers, and the Uraba region in the far west.
