Dual GFDL and CC-by-nc-sa Licence

  

This site, and most of its content, is dual licensed by GNU-FDL 1.2, and CC-by-nc-sa 3.0.

This means that Carlos Thompson, author of its content, grants you pemission to use its content and redistribute it by any or both of these licenses. Which ever better fits your needs.

The Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommertial-Share Alike, by either the 3.0 unported version or the 2.5 Colombian version, grants you to use this work, copy it, distribute it, and transmite it, as well as adapt this work to your needs, as longer as you keep the following restrictions

  1. Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).

    So what is that manner? Other licenses

While the site itself, considered as a whole work, and most pages are dual licensed as GNU/FDL and CC-by-nc-sa, there are part of the content in this site that is under a diferent license terms.

There are several reasons to do this. For example some material is not original (or solely orginal) from Carlos Thompson, and therefor he cannot license it in a different way than the original licensor. Another reason, is that some material is concidered by Thompson, the author, as artistic, and therefor its creative integrity should be preserved by a more restrictive license than GNU/FDL or CC-by-nc-sa.

On general lines, if you do not plan to modify this work or any part of it (by part, meaning a whole page or a whole image), nor get profit from it or use it for any commercial purposes, you can copy it and distribute it as longer as you cite back to http://chlewey.net/. But if you want to modify it, distribute modifications or get profit from any modified or unmodified version, or if you cannot or do not want to cite back, then you should mut be sure to understand the specific terms of this licenses.

Images and PDF documents

Documents that are hosted in this site, but are not distributed as plain text or as HTML, are not covered, by default, by the dual GNU/FDL & CC-by-nc-sa license.

Images that are part of the contents of a page are covered by the license of that page, including its freedoms, as longer as they keep being part of that document. Stripping the textual content of a page to leave the image alone is not considered by the author as an acceptable modication.

As a rule of thumb, images that refere to the author or his personal life and suroundings, are to be concidered restricted if they are to be used or distributed outside of the linking document, while images that refere to general concepts should be considered open and under the dual license. Refere to http://chlewey.net/images/ (in a future) for specifics on each image.

The skin, or graphical interface of this site (also known as theme or template) is, as a whole, covered by the GNU General Purpose License (GNU-GPL), including all graphical elements except for the site logos themselves.

PDF documents, that do not have a copyright notice, should be considered restricted.

Facts and presentation

Under most legislations the facts themselves are not covered by copyright issues. And any license affecting contents of this site does not cover the estated facts, only the presentation of those facts.

Facts, can be protected, though, by either patents or othe kind of reserve that affects original investigation. If any fact estated in this site has such a protection, it will be marked as such.

The publisher and author of this site, will be pleased if you cite him or his site for any stated facts. However he warns you that you should probably cite a more prestigious source for facts that have not been produced by Carlos Thompson.
