Colombia is washed by two seas: the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, is crossed by the Andes, and half of its land territory belongs to the basins of the Amazon and the Orinoco. This land territory has a diversity of climates and shapes, from rain forest, to snowed mountain tops, including low and high altitude plains, a few deserts, rich valleys and dry jungle. In five main regions are traditionally divided the Colombian geography: the coastal plains of the Caribbean and the Pacific, the Andes cordillera and the plains of the Orinoco and Amazon basins. Here the two maritime territories are included.
